Abstract
The structures of framework-associated tri-coordinated Al Lewis acid sites that are bonding with hydroxyl groups are determined on H-ZSM-5 zeolites by using solid-state NMR spectroscopy coupled with theoretical calculations. The high reactivity of these framework-associated Al sites leads to the preferable formation of methoxy species in methanol reaction at lower temperature, which contribute to the formation of hydrocarbons at high temperature as active C1 species.
